Ivana Espinet
Fellowship Facilitator, Youth Media Learning Network (YMLN)
Ivana is originally from Argentina. Before coming to New York she taught continuing education courses for elementary and secondary school teachers in Media Education and planned and directed journalism workshops for children in Argentina. She worked as co-director of the Documentary Workshop, as well as a staff developer. In 1999, she completed an M.A. in Instructional Technology and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. She did a Research Fellowship for after-school practitioners with the Robert Bowne Foundation and she is currently a Ph.D. candidate for the Urban Education program at the CUNY Graduate Center. She has worked as an adjunct professor at New York University, teaching the course Media Education in School and Community Work, and is currently facilitating a fellowship for YMLN youth media educators. Ivana has a special talent for getting lost anywhere including her home town (Cordoba) in Argentina.
