Tawnya Foskett

Documentary Instructor

Tawnya began her career as an actor after studying at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. In 1999 she branched out to behind-the-scenes work by co-producing a one-woman play in NYC. This lead to assistant directing and stage managing in theater, which then lead to a decision to go to film school. Tawnya studied film and theater at Humboldt State in Northern California where she made several short documentaries and narrative films. She also worked at Shenandoah Film Productions, which distributes and makes Native American documentaries. She graduated film studies in Melbourne, Australia where she made two short narrative films. Upon completion of film school, Tawnya re-located back to New York City, where she has been working in the film industry, most often in the postproduction field or as a teaching artist for documentary filmmaking. Last year she directed a play and currently she is in postproduction on a narrative short to hit festivals in 2011.
