You are invited to support EVC's students by attending one of this semester's culminating Youth Documentary Workshop Portfolio Roundtables. Each student is assigned a Portfolio timeslot during which they are asked to highlight their contributions to this semester's documentary project. They present this to a group of faculty, friends, and community members - ideally to you!

You're invited to the premiere screening of EVC's Basic and Advanced Youth Documentary Workshops on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 5pm at the Paley Center for Media at 25 West 52nd Street in Manhattan.

EVC proudly presents its first annual Youth Powered Video Film Festival on Wednesday, May 26th at 4pm at the Paley Center for Media. The program presents 13 short-form, youth-produced videos that tackle challenging social issues including teen perspectives on sexuality, pregnancy, community, healthcare, and violence.

Based on 25 years of Educational Video Center's award-winning youth media programs, the Youth-Powered Video Institute provides teachers with a repertoire of proven teaching techniques and basic production skills to engage students in learning and increase their literacy and academic skills.

Doc Workshop’s Fall 2009 Screening Premiere

Tyona Washington is Principal of the newly established High School for Excellence and Innovation in Washington Heights. This fall, EVC is pleased to be working closely with teachers at the High School for Excellence and Innovation to integrate documentary video projects into their curriculum.

With a B.S. in Chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana, graduate studies in Education at Lehman College, and Media Studies at the New York Film Academy, Natalie brings a rich background in media and education to EVC.
