The EVC First Annual Youth Powered Video Film Festival screening presents 13 short-form, youth-produced videos that tackle challenging social issues including teen perspectives on sexuality, pregnancy, community, healthcare, and violence.

The Youth-Powered Video Film Festival furthers EVC's mission to develop the artistic, critical literacy and career goals of young people, while nurturing their idealism and commitment to social change. EVC's Youth-Powered Video curriculum was first implemented in 2005 to support teachers and youth workers, nationally and internationally, in the facilitation of student-centered video projects that explore issues relevant to their lives in and out of school.

We believe in "real work for real audiences", in which the videos created by young people are used to inspire dialogue, action, and community change.

The Youth-Powered Video Film Festival showcases outstanding work created by young people, and provides a platform to extend the reach of their films. By connecting youth with a larger community of media makers and community organizers, we aim to help students realize the power and potential of media-making. Our goal is to amplify youth voices by providing an audience for their creativity, perspectives, and community solutions.
