Shakeima Cooks
Shakeima Cooks is 20 years of age and resides in the Bronx. She found interest in film when she first was exposed to the movie “The Color Purple.” Shakeima created a film titled “A House Is Not A Home” along side other young woman where they discuss issues within the Foster Care system and used their personal experiences and challenges. The Tribeca Film Fellows Program became a gateway for Shakeima to get an internship at YO-TV. Shakeima has not won any awards but her film “A House Is Not Home" was seen at the Bronx Museum and The Point community center. Shakeima wants to create a film on either Marcus Garvey or on Carter G. Woodson's book “The Miseducation of A Negro.”
