“The difference between EVC and other learning institutions is that you learn by doing, not by being told what to do. If I had taken a class on how to edit, I would not have learned as much as I did, by editing myself and with the help of my peers and mentors.” V.M.

“In many ways, EVC has helped me step out of my comfort zone.” R.T.

“Five years from now, I see myself creating a niche in the film industry through independent films that convey my unique vision to audiences. I know the skills I’ve gained during my time with the Educational Video Center will help me to achieve these goals and to be effective in creating my art.” T.D.

The Documentary Workshop is an intensive, hands-on video internship where students write, film, direct and edit a 20-minute documentary. Students will learn to conduct interviews and research, use and compose shots with a video camera, and edit digitally on a computer. In addition to their group video projects, students assemble individual portfolios that they present to teachers, media professionals, and parents at an end-of-the-semester roundtable. Students who participate need to be responsible, cooperative and willing to face new challenges.

The class meets four days a week, Monday through Thursday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. It is the school’s discretion to determine the number of credits that students receive for participation in the internship.
