Since 1984:
30,000+ young documentarians supported
250+ documentaries made
Every one by BIPOC, queer, and working-class young people telling stories that matter

WHY IT MATTERS
Dreaming big is getting harder and lonelier for young people.
EVC acts as a catalyst for the dreams of new generations of documentarians through critical education and media arts. We provide a safe community space where, through our youth documentary programs, students' dreams and ideas are taken seriously and turned into stories that can change minds.
These students are growing up in one of the most challenging times for human rights, access to opportunity, and free expression.
Your gift is an investment in a new generation of New Yorkers using film for social justice.

WHAT DO STUDENTS GET?
In one semester, an EVC student gets:
-
A community. A safe and caring space where their dreams, ideas, and voices are heard, while they also receive nourishing food to keep the creativity growing.
-
A critical lens. The tools to analyze the realities of their communities and decide which stories need to be told.
-
Tools for what’s next. Filmmaking skills and a first look at the educational and creative paths media arts can open.

DREAM WITH US!
Gifts are unrestricted and fund cameras, editing software, mentors and educators, after-school programming, and the premiere itself.

WHERE IT ALL COMES TOGETHER
“Document. Resist. Transform.” Winter Premiere
January 13, 2027 · SVA Theatre
This is where the program becomes real. Young documentarians see their films on the big screen, with their families, peers, and communities in their seats.
Then, in a Q&A session, students share what they learned about how media arts drive change for a more just and equitable world for everyone.
