EVC Presents Docs and Dialogue returns this month with a screening of the 2004 film Patriarchy is Malarkey! and a community discussion about gender justice. This film explores the discrimination and violence that women face in society, and examines the policies and media representations that deny them control over their bodies.
Through interviews with their peers, feminist scholars, and social workers, EVC Youth Producers gain an understanding of how patriarchy affects their lives. Featuring footage from the March for Women’s Lives demonstration in DC, this documentary sheds light on the history of youth activism about gender inequity.
With issues surrounding gender discrimination and women’s right to choose at the forefront of American politics, there couldn’t be a better time to come together and share experiences and strategies for the struggle against gender inequality.
